Sheohar is an administrative district is the state of Bihar. The district headquarter is located at Sheohar this district was carved out of Sitamarhi district on 6th october,1994 by the Government of Bihar vide its notification no.286. The district is situated in the northern part Tirhut Division and lies on the north region of the state of Bihar. It is surrounded in the north and east by the district of Sitamarhi, in south by the district of Muzaffarpur and in west by the district of East Champaran. It is the smallest district in the states of Bihar both in terms of size of Size of population and total area of the district. The district has only one subdivision viz. Sheohar and five C.D. Blocks viz., Sheaohar, Piprarhi, Purnahiya, Dumri Katsari and Tariyani. Sheohar is the only town in the district. There are altogether 53 panchayats 203 villages in the district.
